HASLETT - It was a heartwarming night as the community gathered together to celebrate a life that was taken too soon.
10 year old Will Goodale was a 5th grader at Ralya Elementary School in Haslett. He was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in June 2015 and was undergoing several medical treatments since then.
Unfortunately, Will lost his battle and passed away late Monday afternoon on November 2, 2015.
"Vivacious, happy, energetic...just the most beautiful smile," friend of the Goodale's Cheri Riemer reminisced about Will.
On Monday evening (November 9), the Haslett community rallied together once again to show their support to the Goodale family during this difficult time.
"He was taken too soon and we just love the family and we're here to show our support," Riemer stated.
A fundraiser was held at the Blue Gill Grill in Haslett where bracelets and t-shirts were sold to raise funds for the Goodale family.
"We're coming together to help support them and raise funds for hospital expenses...there's medical bills that they don't even know about yet," Riemer mentioned.
Lime green t-shirts (which was Will's favorite color) filled the restaurant/bar as people remembered the charismatic and positive spirit of 10 year old Will.
"We miss him, we love the family, and we'll be here to help them through," said Riemer.
Cheri Riemer, Jamie Rahrig and many others have played an active role in consistently raising funds for the Goodale family. As of this time, future fundraisers have not yet been announced.
"We're working together with the family to honor their wishes and desires and so we'll keep the community posted," Riemer stated.
Will impacted the lives of every person he met and with the constant support of friends, family, and this community...his legacy will be carried on forever.
"You know what I think...that we "WILL" remember...he's special...special family, he was a special young man and the community is just amazing...just amazing," Riemer mentioned.
