PORTLAND - Big time matchup, between two big time teams. Lansing Catholic went on the road to take on Portland for the second time this season, looking for their first win against the Raiders.

LCC's Tony Palmer wasted no time and took the opening kickoff past the 50 yard line. Catholic then got their first points of the game via a Tony Poljan quarterback dive on the goal line.

The Raiders quickly responded after going for it on 4th and 4 to bring the score to 7-7 with 4 minutes left in the first quarter.

Each team turned the ball over on their ensuing possessions. First, Poljan coughed up the ball but the defense intercepted the Raiders to put the ball back in the hands of Catholic.

Tony Palmer found paydirt for the first time of the afternoon on another goal line run, but the PAT was blocked. Cougars still lead, 13-7.

Poljan got in the endzone next via another quarterback run, and this time Palmer converted the 2 point conversion to bring the score to 21-7.

Portland's Lefke did manage to break one long run to get the last score for the Raiders of the afternoon.

The game was won in the 4th quarter though, as the Cougars managed to stop Portland on the goal line not once, but twice. The second time coming after an untimely interception that put Portland back into a position to tie the game up, but penalties and great defense prevented that.
