LANSING - On November 5, the Tri-County Office on Aging held their 30th Annual Dinner and Auction fundraiser for Meals on Wheels at the Eagle Eye Banquet Center.
In the past, the Tri-County Office on Aging has raised over $50,000 having more than 300 guests in attendance. Proceeds from the event benefit services for older adults and persons with disabilities.
"Now more than ever we need funding for Meals on Wheels especially because the population has grown by 30%. Those 60 and over, the demand for meals has gone up as well," said Tri-County Office on Aging Executive Director, Marion Owen.
During the fundraiser, the highlights of the night included silent and live auctions. The live auction involved bidding on an all-inclusive 2 night stay at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and a one week stay in Provence, France.
After dinner, guests who paid a $10 entry were able to play heads or tails. The $10 entry provided a blue chip to play the game. Once a coin was flipped, guests had to choose whether to put the blue chip by their head or their tail. The last person standing during the game won a Meijer $500 gift card.
