OKEMOS - In its 16th year of Taste of Okemos, this welcomed event offered residents the fun of sampling food supplied by local restaurant, and the supporting the Okemos High School’s vocal music program.
On Saturday, Oct. 31st, Okemos High School hosted the opportunity of tasting food and drinks from 20 local restaurants while enjoying the jazzy music from a live band.
Held in the OHS Commons from 2-4pm, selections including traditional American cuisine and International fares were offered by vendors from the surrounding communities.
Tickets were able to be purchased at the door on the day of the event and allow one serving per restaurant. All proceeds from the fundraiser support the widely recognized high school program, led by OHS Vocal Music Director Claire Bellamy.
The volunteer parent organization, chaired this year by Benli Chai, works closely with the choir students to make this event possible. All of the OHS Choir students take responsibility for the event day duties including set-up, serving and cleaning up.
This year's vendors included Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Okemos Food Service, Sultan’s Place, Swagath Indian Cuisine and Asian Buffet.
