MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On October 6th, the Meridian Township Board had a discussion on the Mixed Use Planned Unit Development #15034 and the Special Use Permit #15121 Red Cedar Flats.
The Meridian Investment Group, LCC made a request to redevelop an existing office park plus establish a mixed use planned unit development at Grand River Avenue and Northwind Drive.
This project called Red Cedar Flats includes the construction of four new multi-storage unit luxury apartments that are near Michigan State University, Cooley Law School and Lansing Community College.
Building 1 is a 3-story mixed building. The first floor is commercial space and the remaining floors will have 22 apartment units.
Building 2, 3, and 4 will have a mix of apartments that include 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units.
According to Landscape Architect, Martha Wyatt, "the proposed amenities for this project includes the rehabilitation of a degraded site, 2 recycling centers, foot and bicycle pathways connecting to the Township pathway system; cover bicycle storage on site, outdoor gathering resources; seating plazas visible to the street, and LED light fixtures for outdoor lighting. "
Since the Red Cedar Flats are a group of buildings "totaling more that 25,00 square feet in gross floor area, "the buildings require a Special Use Permit #15121.
This permit is being processed with the Mixed Use Planned Unit Development.
And both items were approved for further discussion at the next Township Board Meeting on October 20th .
