HASLETT - Haslett Boys Tennis tied 4-4 with rivals East Lansing Trojans on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Haslett High School.
Seniors Johnny Choi and Matt Stewart, along with sophomore Nate Choi took the win for Haslett in the singles match. Sophomore Sam Zayko and junior Nate Glaza won for the Haslett team in the doubles match.
Even though it wasn't for a championship, Coach Henry Brunnschweiler and the team agree it was still a big game for all.
"We're kind of an up-and-coming team over the last few years," said Coach Brunnschweiler. "It's really a measuring stick for us seeing how we match up. East Lansing's always solid, and I'm just watching these guys play out here and they got a solid team yet again. So, for Haslett it's a really good opportunity to get some real solid schools to kind of see where we stand."
The Vikings will meet with other local teams on Thursday, Oct. 8th for the MHSAA Regional. The top two teams from each regional will then move on to the State Tournament.
