Campers Travel Through Time at the
Meridian Historical Village

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - This summer, kids got the opportunity to participate in day camps at the Meridian Historical Village. Every August, the Historical Village hosts a five-day camp that brings the campers back in time. Every day of the week is spent exploring a different period of time.

"The second day it was "Pioneer Day," and we spent a lot of time at our log cabin. And we did chores the way they did before they had mechanical pieces of equipment. So when they ground corn, they had to use a mortar and pestle, and grind with their muscles; as opposed to today, where we let them use the modern, mechanical tools of the 18th century, and they saw how much faster it goes," explains Jane Rose, Executive Director of the Meridian Historical Village.

The Historical Village summer camps operate on a four-year rotation, allowing campers to return for multiple years without repeating the same activities.
