UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - As the holiday season approaches, local farmers prepare for increased turkey sales.
Spartan Country Meats is one business expecting more sales this season. The local farm raises both chickens and turkeys each year. This year, all of them have been sold, leaving some customers on their waiting list.
The owner, Christine Miller says all turkeys are naturally home grown with no hormones and no medication. Customers come back to their farm saying turkeys are bigger and tastier than the ones in grocery stores.
Miller is also the manager at Meridian Farmers' Market and eventhough the summer market is over, she says a special Thanksgiving Farmers' Market will be held on Wednesday, November 23 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Central Park Pavilion.
