• DeJuan Jones is still smiling after picture-taking time.

WILLIAMSTON - Williamston High was packed on Wednesday night as all stars from all around the Lansing area gathered to participate in the 5th annual Mid-Michigan Seniors All Star Game.

First up was the ladies, and they did not disappoint with drama throughout between the green and white teams.

Okemos goalie Vanessa Nigg of the white team stopped everything in sight until late in the second half, when she gave up a rebound goal to tie it up, 1-1.

Including Nigg, the white team featured the Okemos coaching staff, along with four Chief players. Normally sworn enemies, Haslett represented white, as well, with four of their own on the field.

The buzzer beat, but instead of overtime, the match headed straight to penalty kicks.

Shot after shot, goal after goal, and this pk seemed like it would not end until next season. Finally, a save by white ended it with a, 2-1, final.

Okemos' very own Erin Doster came away with MVP honors.

"I think how much the Lansing area has impacted me," Doster said after the win.

"Even though I go off to practice in Detroit and I go off to other places around the country to play, I just come to impress the Lansing area because they are the ones who have seen me progress throughout my life."

Doster signed out east to play for the University of Massachusetts this coming season.

Just moments after this barn-burner, the all star boys took the field in what would become a much higher scoring affair.

This one would pit Haslett vs. Okemos, with Viking Vinny Barlie in green and Chief Tyler Bailey in white.

Bailey's team took an early lead and never looked back gliding through to a , 6-4, victory. Chalk one up for Okemos.

Highlighting the squad was none other than Mr. Soccer of Michigan, DeJuan Jones. A brilliant performance puts him to the podium once more, but what is another award to the East Lansing Trojan alum superstar?

"It feels great just playing with some of the guys on my club team," Jones said after winning MVP.

"It's great to get back out here with the high school guys. It means a lot. It's always nice to go out on a win."

Jones stays in his hometown this fall, as he joins Michigan State's soccer program.
