LANSING - After pouring rain on Monday night, the 16th Annual Charity Challenge Golf Outing was enjoyed on Tuesday by many MSU alum. Matinee Cleaves, who won a 2000 NCAA National Championship for Spartan basketball is back and town and giving back to children who's dreams may be to get an education at Michigan State University.
"To be able to help the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing and provide scholarship funds for kids to continue to go to Michigan State and get a great education is just fun," said Cleaves.
The Mid-Michigan Spartans Alumni Club puts on this event each year and president of the club, Erika Weadock says that it's so easy putting on a successful and fun event when Mateen is involved because he really cares about Spartans helping other Spartans.
Will Tieman, Michigan State Play-by-play announcer, says what he believes is most important about this event.
"For me it's always been family, Tom Izzo has created this family in Michigan State basketball where if he were to ever ask past players for help, they would just do it because they know we are apart of a family," said Tieman.
