Tower Gardens Lift Station Receives
Updates

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Tower Gardens Lift Station is getting a much needed update, according to Meridian Township's Chief Engineer, Younes Ishraidi.

A lift station is used for pumping waste-water or sewage from a lower to higher elevation, particularly where the elevation of the source is not sufficient for gravity flow.

Ishraidi said the Tower Gardens Lift Station will replace the wet well, the valve chamber, and the force main. It will also receive new manholes, a control panel and a standby generator.

The project will cost around $460,000 and will come from the sewer fund. According to Ishraidi , the update was needed to maintain the system's effectiveness.

The service area of the lift station outreaches to just east of Hagadorn Road, all the way to the west of Abbott Road, and just north of Lake Lansing Road.

Currently, contractors are pulling in the force main pipe. They will then connect the wet well to the existing system and set up the control panel.

Substantial completion of the project, Ishraidi predicts, should be finished in two weeks. Restoration work of the area will then begin on Hardy avenue.

At this time Hardy Avenue remains closed.
