OKEMOS - A potential partnership with a local business may be in the works to get Okemos High School's tennis courts back into shape.

Okemos Superintendent Dr. Catherine Ash told the School Board that the high school's tennis courts are near the point of being unsafe. Court One Athletic Clubs has reached out to the district with a $30,000-$35,000 offer to repair the courts.

"They need to be renovated after a while, and you know you get cracks in them and things like that which happens to everyone's courts after a while, so we're excited to have an opportunity to partner with Court One," said Okemos High's Athletic Director, Ira Childress.

Corey Randall, CEO and Okemos parent said the partnership is something they have always wanted to do.

The district plans to match the amount from Court One from its building and site sinking fund, which permits spending on repairs and upgrades to school facilities.

And with the high school's varsity teams being extremely successful over the years, it's imperative work gets done on the cracks right away.

Bids requests are set to go out this week and should an agreement be met, a banner with the names of Court One and other partners will hang near the courts.
