MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Planning Commission hosted a work session on May 21 with residents and stakeholders to express their ideas for the implementation of seven goals the Planning Commission had developed regarding the Master Plan.
Township officials occupied each table as residents talked about what they would like to see happen in the future.
Each of the seven tables was issued a goal and asked to give ways on how they could make its goal a reality.
Tables were assigned to come up with three of its top ideas and present them to the rest of the room.
"The goals are kind of lofty, but we want actual concrete proposals about how we could make differences in transportation, what community facilities we need, what changes we would want in parks, or what changes we would want in any of subjects of the seven goals," said Planning Commission Chair John Scott-Craig.
"All of that will be brought back to the Planning Commission, and we will use that in designing our implementation and our future land use map or future land use projects for the township for the next five or ten or more years."
Other ideas included topics such as: the fixing of roads, the speculation of building developments and commercialization, environmental treatment and cultural life, among many others.
The discussion among tables lasted around 40 minutes. Shortly after, a representative from each table explained its ideas for about three minutes each.
