MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Bids have been received for a well-known piece of property in Meridian Township.

The MARC property, which includes the former central fire station, has received four bids. Three of the four call for both the MARC and the fire station to be torn down; the fourth would make use of the MARC building. Township Manager Frank Walsh said he's excited to see what the developers bring to the table.

"This is a really important development. It can really be a transformation for downtown Okemos," Walsh said, "So (we're) really, really looking forward to finding the right developer to begin what will be the new Okemos."

Walsh says he expects the proposals to go in front of the Township Board in late June.
