MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Many of us are used to road construction in the summer time, but driving around Meridian, you may have noticed that there is construction on several buildings going on around the township.
In one part of Meridian Township, land is being leveled, while in another, the finishing touches of the Doggy Day Care are being put on.
"We're projected to open up on the 24th of June," Mathew Hunter, Lead Manager of the Okemos Doggy Daycare said. "So that's our official start date. that's when we'll be having dogs come in for daycare and boarding and grooming and everything."
Gordman's, a discount department store, is projected to open mid-June as well.
"We've hired 110 people so far. We're installing fixtures in the store in the next three weeks, actually, and then we'll be merchandising," Cathy Richardson, Okemos Gordmans Store Manager said.
Whole Foods was projected to open this summer, but now could be opening as late as 2016. Project managers say this is because of an addition to the building that was not part of the original plan.
"Whole foods continues to move along," Peter Menser, Associate Planner for Meridian Township said. they're still working on the inside and the outside of the building. last thing i heard from corporate whole foods is they're planning on being open early 2016."
Aldi, however, is projected to open this year.
"They're doing site work. They're grating, putting in utilities and they should be pouring foundation any time now," Menser said.
Project managers say the store should be open in October.
