MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Kiwanis Club of Haslett is aiming to get at least 400 flags flying over Meridian Township this year through their fundraising program called “Flags Over Meridian.”
This program is a flag display service where club members set up an American Flag in front of businesses and homes throughout the Township on six different holidays. These holidays include Independence Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Labor Day, 9/11 and Veterans day.
“One thing I can say is definitely the more flags you get in your community, the better it looks on holidays,” said David Swanson, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the flag-displaying team.
The $36 flag subscription donation fees all go straight to the Kiwanis Club and their effort to assist children by building character, developing leadership skills and improving grades.
