MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the April 21st Township Board meeting, the Board discussed some potential zoning changes to be made to a parcel of property along Grand River Avenue and Central Park Drive.
For reference, the area that the Eyde Company is looking to get re-zoned is the 8.66 acres near the Panera Bread on Central Park Drive, and west of the Sparrow facility on Grand River Avenue.
The parcel on this road is currently un-developed.
The area proposed to be re-zoned would be made C-2, or commercial zoning. It was formerly zoned Professional Office and RA, or single family.
Clerk Brett Dreyfus was concerned about the change in zoning, with potential demand for professional office space.
Community Planning & Development Director Mark Kieselbach says that this is not particularly a huge issue at this time.
"We have about a 15% vacancy rate, overall," said Kieselbach, in regards to the Township's availability of office space.
This zoning request has come up from the Planning Commission.
The Board will decide at their next meeting on May 7th, whether or not to rezone.
