MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Okemos Road is looking a little different at night recently, as the streetlights that were installed earlier this year are now working properly.
Meridian Township is working with Consumer's Energy to get at least eleven lights back in working order.
Derek Perry, Assistant Township Manager and Director of Public Works in Meridian Township, says that the "issues have been resolved. We've been working with our partners at Consumer's Energy, they've been working with the actual manufacturer's, and with General Electric to find out what's wrong with the fixtures. As of last night, we actually went trough and visually inspected them all, and they're all operating correctly."
Perry plans to reach out to Consumer's Energy to find the cause of the malfunctioning lights, and check to make sure that the fix is permanent.
As far as the downed streetlight near the Hamilton Road traffic circle is concerned, Perry says that the light was struck by a vehicle during the winter, and will be removed and replaced as soon as possible with stock parts from Consumer's.
