HASLETT - Haslett softball fell to East Lansing in a doubleheader season opener 19-0, 13-5.

East Lansing got off to a hot start in the first game evening with a leadoff homer to dead center courtesy of Emma Booth.

The Trojans just kept piling it on the Vikings with total of eighteen hits in the contest.

Andrea Petrowitz struck out 6 for the Trojans.

Erin Panter struck out four for Haslett, but didn't see much help as the Viking defense struggled.

The Vikings ultimately fell in the first game, which was shortened to three innings due to the high school mercy rule.

The Trojans were hyped up from their big win in the first game, but Haslett came out strong early on in the second contest.

Panter lead off with a single. Two batters later, Kaitlin Chamberlain plated Panter with a RBI double to left.

The name of the Vikings game in the nightcap was aggressive baserunning, but momentum shifted when East Lansing catcher Brianna Forsthoefel tagged out a Haslett player on a close play at the plate.

A double by Petrowitz put East Lansing ahead 6-4 for their first lead in the contest.

East Lansing continued to add on the damage, and ended up victorious 13-5.

"They were playing well and making the plays they should make... then we should be ok when that happens," said Haslett Head Coach Dan Ruhstorfer. "Not let one little mistake turn into three or four runs, then we'll get there."
