UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP -
ORIGINAL STORY:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township's Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a gas station proposal from Kroger on April 13th. Anyone interested in the issue may attend the meeting and express their opinions.
Kroger, at the crossings of Marsh and Newman Road, proposed to build a gas station on its site. The station will have a 250 square foot transaction kiosk and 8 fuel pumps.
"It's part of their business model. there are no other gas stations in the specific area so I think they are just taking advantage of the room they had on their property to build the gas station," said Peter Menser, Associate Planner at Meridian Township.
He said possible concerns of the project include increased traffic in the area, while it may also bring new business and tax revenue to the Township.
The Planning Commission will vote on the project at their April 27th meeting after the public hearing.
If passed, Kroger can start the construction as early as May.
