EAST LANSING - For a team to go from nearly defeated to the State Semifinal in any sport is impressive. Lansing Everett has done just that. Despite losing by a score of 73-61 this team has come farther than anyone could have expected. The player at the center of all that, Oregon Commit Trevor Manuel, has certainly taken the road less traveled.
Manuel, has been sort of a journeyman throughout his high school career. Starting out first out west, then moving to Lansing Sexton where they went to the finals, and then to Everett his senior year to take a 2-19 team from the year prior and turned them into a final four team.
The contest started out in Everett's favor and they led to end the 1st quarter 19-13. Sadly, this would be the last quarter break in which they held the lead. Arthur Hill, lead by two standout players (Eric Davis - G - Texas) and (Brian Bowen - SF - #6 Ranked player in 2017 class). Bowen, was not much of an impact in the first but Senior Eric Davis willed the team back through his defense and his shooting.
It was still close at the end of two, but once the third quarter was under way, Arthur Hill completely took the game over. The combination of their floor spacing, talent, and speed was simply too much for the upstart Vikings to overcome.
Final: 73-61
