MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Police Department is now allowing Craigslist shoppers to use their facilities to safely complete transactions.

While most transactions go through without an issue, Chief David Hall says it's better to be safe than sorry, and to always trust your instincts.

"If something feels wrong, it probably is wrong," said Chief Hall. "And that's the opportunity you have, those few seconds, to back away and take action. Cancel the transaction, walk away."

When meeting up for a transaction, Chief Hall also suggests that you bring your cellphone, only pay with cash and to bring a friend if possible.

To use the police facilities, which are located at 5151 Marsh Road, for Craigslist transactions, you can just show up, there is no need to schedule an appointment or call ahead.
