MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Fire Department Received a donation from The Home Depot's Okemos Store on December 6th.
The store won 100 smoke detectors for being in the top 42 in sales for the company of detectors during Fire Prevention Month in October. Okemos' Home Depot then donated them to the Fire Department. EMS and Training Chief Bill Priese said the detectors will go to those who cannot afford one.
"We want everybody to have them in their house so they're alerted if there's a fire or anything," Priese said. "So it's a wonderful thing that Home Depot as a corporation did this competition and that our store here in Okemos was awarded 100 of them and are donating them to us."
Those in need of a smoke detector can call the Fire Department at (517) 853-4700.
