MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The weather may be getting colder, but you won't have to wait until Spring for the Meridian Farmers' Market.

The first Winter Farmers' Market of the season took place on Saturday, December 6th in the JC Penney wing of the Meridian Mall. The usual fruits and vegetables were on hand, as well as some homemade holiday crafts. Farmers' Market Manager Christine Miller says the market benefits both its vendors and the mall itself.

"Well this is our 5th year having the Winter Farmers' Market inside the Meridian Mall, and it's, kind of, a combined effort between the mall trying to get a little more traffic here and allowed the farmers' market to extend its season to be able to go year-round so it's, kind of, a win-win for both of us," Miller said.

The Winter Farmers' Market runs on the first and third Saturdays of the month, December through April.
