HASLETT - For those of you who don't have plans on Thanksgiving, Blondie's Barn in Haslett will be hosting a free meal for all members of the community.
This is the second year the restaurant is expecting to host Thanksgiving and the meals will be served by the owner and her family. She said offering a free Thanksgiving meal is her way of giving back to the community.
"Last year I started it because I knew a lot of people in the community needed a little extra help," said Dawn Manuel, Owner of Blondie's Barn. "But we've actually come to find out that there's more people in our community who really have nowhere to go. So this is not really just about a financial need, but really we don't want anyone to spend Thanksgiving alone."
Manuel said she decided to host another thanksgiving after she received phone calls asking if she was doing it again. The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. All are welcome to attend and there is no pre-registration required.
Although the meal is free, Blondie's accepting donations which they plan to give to the Haslett food bank.
