MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board is in the midst of planning out the 2015 Goals and Objectives.
The planning consists of four work sessions which are open to the public.
The first work session was Thursday, November 13th and was held during the day which differs from the usual Tuesday evening meetings.
A few Township residents expressed concern at the last Board meeting regarding this meeting change and the fact that it was not televised. They called it a lack of transparency on behalf of the board.
Trustee Scales spoke with HOMTV after the meeting addressing the issue.
He said, "It came back to this board tonight televised - transparent, its going to be on the agenda for December 2nd at a regular board meeting televised- transparent, its online for anyone to look at it which is transparent. Comments can be mailed in, emailed in brought in."
The result of the Board meetings has been a list of 9 goals and 140 objectives which are available on the Township website.
Trustee Scales said during the meeting that one of his biggest concerns for 2015 is the up keep of township facilities.
"Some of the capitol improvements will allow us to be in a better position in maintaining the buildings and the facilities that we have in this township. Never again will we be caught flat footed like we were with the Central Fire station that eventually was totally dilapidated."
Other township goals being discussed are a renovation to the township website and enhancing public safety and the environment.
