HASLETT - Thursday was National Signing Day for high school basketball players going on to play college basketball, and Haslett High School had three girls of their own accepting scholarships to play at the collegiate level.
Forward Makeenna Ott signed to play at Hillsdale College, while both point guard Mackenzie Decook and shooting guard Adrianna Stolicker signed to play at Northwood University. The high school held a ceremony to honor the girls, with head coach Bob Currier and athletic director Darin Ferguson giving a few words before having the girls sign their letters of intent.
"You couldn't be more excited for these three girls, because from the beginning of time that I've known them, they were all about basketball," said girls varsity basketball Head Coach Bob Currier. "To see them get an individual reward like this at the end of it, is very gratifying. It's very gratifying for me as a coach, it's gratifying for their parents, obviously it's financially gratifying for their parents."
The girls are looking forward to finishing strong in their senior season before they part ways, becoming rivals in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
