LANSING, MI - Earlier this morning, dozens of UAW union workers and other area residents came to meet the Mark Schauer Democratic candidate for Governor.

"My vision for Michigan is very different that a key to a good job is a good education and we build an economy for regular people and that's what this fight is about and I feel very good," Schauer said.

But to get the win, Schauer stresses the obvious — voting.

"When democrats vote, we win," said Sam Singh 69th State Representative Democratic candidate and incumbent. "We saw four years ago, democrats stayed home and it changed the trajectory of the state."

So Schauer's speech nearly 80 volunteers and UAW workers rallied together to hit streets going door to door to urge people to get out and head to the polls.

"We have canvassers here, volunteers that are going out talking to voters, making sure they turn out to vote, one last reminder. Actually a number of these voters will be contacted several times, we have folks on the phone doing the same thing," Schauer said. "This is how I've always won in tough elections in tough districts."

"We've seen the republican model where you provide big tax cuts to corporations, it's the same tried and failed trickle down economics, it works for a few folks at the top but not regular Michiganders," he added.

The pillar of Schauer campaign is education.

"You educate our kids, you make sure college is affordable, you provide tax cuts to working families you repeal the Snyder job killing pension tax," Schauer said.

This was Schauer's last stop of his six day bus tour before he heading to Detroit for election night. Polls will close at 8 p.m. tonight, the winner will be announced soon after.
