LANSING - The United States added 214,000 jobs to payrolls last month resulting in the jobless rate falling to 5.8 percent.
Here in Michigan the unemployment rate is down to 7.2% from 8.8% in September 2013 according to the Michigan Dashboard.
With national unemployment dropping and the U.S. experiencing the 49th straight month of job gains the job market is looking optimistic both nationally and locally.
Employment agencies such as Michigan Works have seen an increase in job postings and hirings.
"Well its the national trend yes but its also happening locally as well because were Michigan and Michigan is manufacturing and manufacturing is back," said Executive Director of the Capital Area Manufacturing Council Michelle Cordano.
The greater Lansing area is projected to gain more than 1,000 jobs in the next 6 months.
In the last 90 days 1,165 manufacturing jobs have been posted in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties.
The 5.8 percent unemployment rate is closer to what economists consider healthy. Michigan's unemployment rate is a little higher than the national number at 7.4 percent.
