• The Spartans celebrate after crushing Michigan for a second straight year.

EAST LANSING - Michigan marched into Spartan Stadium, confident enough to plant a stake on the field, a marking of territory that Michigan State did not take kindly to.

Spartans running back Jeremy Langford scored the first of his three touchdowns early in the first quarter, setting the tone to a, 35-11, thrashing over Michigan. The Spartans have won six of their last seven meetings against the Wolverines.

While Langford dominated on offense, the Spartans defense did not allow one rushing yard in the first half.

Langford finished the day with 177 rushing yards, keeping a big lead safe, and forcing the ball into Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner's hands for any chance at a comeback.

Gardner amasses 125 passing yards and three turnovers that really blew this game open.

"[I'm] Just proud of those guys," MSU defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi said at the postgame press conference. "You know R.J. with a pick six, that's Spartan football right there."

As for the stake incident, Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio took offense.

"Throwing the stake down in our backyard out here, and coming out there like their all that, it got shoved the last minute and a half," Dantonio said, referring to Langford's five-yard rushing touchdown with 28 seconds left of game time. The team could have kneeled the ball to end the game instead.

In the fourth quarter, Michigan tailback De'Veon Smith scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. It was the first time Michigan scored a touchdown against the Spartans in over 186 minutes of gameplay.
