HASLETT - Governor Rick Snyder spoke at Haslett High School on Wednesday October 15th, and protesters were there in full force.
The protesters were holding up signs and leading chants that spoke out against several of Governor Snyder's policies, particularly cuts to education, as well as the taxation of senior citizens.
Jim Pearson, a former school teacher, said his biggest concern is the fact that less money is available in the classroom than before.
"The state is playing games and the Governor is playing games by shifting money around so that the teachers' or school employees' retirement is, basically, being taken out of money that would go to the classroom," Pearson said.
Pearson said he traveled to the protest from Oakland County and that, as a former teacher, he felt he needed to show his support for public school teachers and students.
