OKEMOS - The Haslett girls swim team traveled across town to Okemos on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a rivalry swim meet.
Okemos had the upper hand for the majority of the meet with girls placing first in the 50 yard free style, 1 meter diving, the 100 yard butterfly, the 100 yard free style , the 500 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breast stroke.
However Haslett did not fall far behind in these events and put up a fight winning the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The final score of the meet was Haslett 72 and Okemos 113.
Even after the victory Okemos head coach Patrick Saucedo said there are a few things that still need to be worked on.
"We have to get our walls cleaned up a little bit, faster turns but reality is they're tired," Saucedo said. "We've been beaten up pretty well. They've got one more really tough week ahead of them then they can start getting a little bit of rest, a little easier workouts and get some energy back in them."
Okemos will travel to Holt on Thursday Oct. 23 and Haslett will host East Lansing on Thursday Oct. 23 as well.
