HASLETT - The Haslett football team took on Waverly for their Homecoming game on October 3rd.
The Warriors lead at the half but the Vikings came clawing back. Quarterback Andrew Harris handed it off to Lee Mott for a big gain. That set up Mykail Stinson who punched his way through for a Haslett touchdown to make it 10-6, Vikings with the lead.
Quarterback Joe Schwartz took Waverly down the field. He rolled left, pump faked, then tossed it off to Jaden Sutton who hurdled a player on his way into the end zone. Warriors took the lead.
Close game heading into the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Haslett marched down the field to set up a second field goal of the night for kicker, Luke Ezzo. His kick gave the Vikings the lead and sealed the win for Haslett, 13-12.
Head Coach, Charlie Otlewski, felt good about the team's win. He said, "I mean it feels really good. It wasn't pretty. You know Homecoming means lots of good things for the school and the student body but that means lots of distractions too. So I always worry about that as a coach. I'm really proud of our kids, very proud of Luke Ezzo. He had two big kicks tonight. No matter how it comes, we gotta get the win. So I'm proud of the fact that we came out."
