MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, according to the American Red Cross.
On October 2nd, the American Red Cross hosted its annual fall season blood drive at the Meridian Township Municipal Building where they had 21 presenting donors and 18 productive donations, including Okemos resident Donald Griffin.
Griffin--who began donating blood in 1959 --has given 28 gallons of blood over his lifetime. He enjoys donating blood because it helps other people and said it does not hurt at all.
More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day.
