LANSING - The Women's Center of Greater Lansing held their 6th annual "Bras for a Cause" auction. The event is also known as the "In Her Cups Art Auction".
Participants decorate and design their own bras to raise money for the center and awareness for breast cancer. The bras were modeled by Lansing's roller derby team, the Mitten Mavens. Co-chair Sharon Granger said about 30 different bras--donated from various entities--were auctioned off.
"They range from the awe inspiring, recognizing women as heroes in our society," she said, "to maybe themed bras for halloween or for supporting the detroit tigers for instance."
Delores May, the event's other co-chair said this year they are holding the event after halloween so participants can use the bras as part of their halloween costumes.
The money raised will go to the Women's Center of Greater Lansing.
