MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Police Department had their own event during the Meridian Heritage Festival on September 20th.
Those worried about the safety of their children in the car had the opportunity to get their child car seats inspected by a member of the police department.
"Just making sure that the child is securely fastened in the seat and the seat is fastened securely in the vehicle so they're all one. So in-case of a crash they're not bouncing all over the car," said Meridian Township Police Officer David Metts.
Residents are encouraged to check car seat expiration dates, as they usually only last 6 years.
