MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Important dates have been tentatively set for the new fire station in Meridian Township.
The internal fire station review team recently altered the design plans and will be incorporating a construction manager to oversee work. The new plans will be designed with the “needs” rather than the “wants”.
Proposals will be requested by August 20. The construction manager is expected to guarantee that the bidding process and selection will not be more than the $3.5 million that voters approved in November 2012.
The three finalists will be interviewed on August 26, and recommendations will be submitted to the Township Board on September 2.
After the final design plans and estimated costs are approved by the Board on October 21, bid documents will be sent out around December 1. The Board will consider bids in late January.
“We will need continued energy, passion, and the ability to say ‘no’ to see this project through completion,” said Frank Walsh, Meridian Township Manager.
The project is expected to begin on March 1, 2015 with the move in day being set for December 15, 2015.
