Recognized

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Haslett-Okemos Rotary Club has a presence in Meridian Township that dates back to the 1950's.

The Rotary Club carries out a motto of ‘Service Above Self through their care and humility in working with the business community of Meridian Township.’

Every year the John H. Campbell Outstanding Community Business Leader Award is given to a a member who has gone above and beyond the Rotary’s motto.

This year David Hall, Meridian Township's Chief of Police, was named the recipient of the award. Hall has 36 years with Meridian Township Police and 10 years with the Haslett-Okemos Rotary Club. Throughout his time in Meridian Township he has been involved in several training and development programs.

Malinda Barr, Rotary Club President, describes Chief Hall by saying, “he is a tremendous strength in the community. He is a nice even keeled personality. He is very easy to talk too and very approachable even with the big intimidating uniform. He is just a great community leader and someone to look up too.”

Rotary Club's mission is to provide service through five avenues, club activities, community events and projects, international projects and support, vocational activities, and new generations.

Hall has carried out this mission through his involvement in FBI National Academy, International, Michigan and Mid-Michigan Associations of Chiefs of Police and several professional groups including Crime Stoppers, Lansing Area Safety Council and Ingham 911 Advisory Council.

Hall also has shown leadership outside of his police duties by developing Youth Citizens Academy. The program includes classroom presentation for students and the opportunity to interact with actual law enforcement tools.
