MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board received a request to rezone approximately 3.55 acres on the North East corner of Jolly Oak Road and Water Lily Way for a hotel with 135 suites.
At the July 15th Township Board meeting, Board members seemed to all stand in favor of moving forward with the request.
"There still appears to be a need for additional beds in the hotel sector due to the nature of the university and this looks to me like a good request," said Meridian Township Treasurer Julie Brixie.
The Planning Commission did hold a public hearing on this and they have recommended approval of this conditional rezoning but recommended a time limit of three years be placed on the project.
The Township Board is expecting to take action on this request at their August 7th meeting.
