OKEMOS - Elle Nichols of Okemos has put together quite the extensive resume for a golfer as young as she is. Over the course of this past summer Elle has participated in a number of tournaments and even flown across the country to compete against the best young golfers in the United States has to offer.
Elle gives much of the credit to her work put in outside of competitive play, "I practice more than a lot of people know. I am always out at the golf course. I don't always get to hang out with friends every night and do things that I want but, in the long run of life it will pay off and be worth it. It's been a lot of fun."
Not only has she simply been invited to these marque events, she has been beating top flight competition. At the Michigan Girls Junior Championship she beat Butler bound golfer Kelsey McDougall by a score of 2-1.
Nichols next event will be the Michigan Women's Amateur at the U-M golf course from August 11th until the 15th. Elle has accepted an athletic scholarship from Oakland University and will be under the guidance of women's golf coach Russ Cunningham.
