MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Construction plans are underway to for the new Nature Exploration Area at the Harris Nature Center.
Harris Nature Center Coordinator Coordinator Kit Rich presented Phase 1 plans that will begin this year to the Park Commission at their last meeting.
The plan is to create an archaeological dig for visitors.
"It's not just playing in the sand," said Rich. "It's going to be full of fossils and a little bit of history so that those are the sorts of things that kids will find, and we can use from an educational standpoint."
A "Log Jam" will also be constructed later this summer, with different heights and sizes of logs for kids to practice balancing.
