EAST LANSING - The Lansing United drew their largest crowd of the season on July 11th as they looked to beat the Indiana Fire for the first time this season.
The core of this crowd comes from the official Lansing United support group, The Sons of Ransom.
Stephan, one of the founders of The Sons of Ransom, said he just wanted to be a part this new soccer team.
"I wanted to be involved in some way so I thought about making a supporters group and I reached out to twitter," Stephan said. "I met up with the other guys that founded it with me."
Stephan said it was hard at first but the Sons of Ransom has been an overall success.
"At first we were just like its three of us but who else is gonna join us?" Stephan said. "And for the first march we had 15 or 20 people and since that game the numbers have grown."
"Its been cool to see just that support grow through out the season," Head coach Eric Rudland said. "And tonight you know a Friday night mid-July it was just a fantastic turn out."
With the crowd on their side the team was able to pull of a 2-1 victory over Indiana with goals from Cody Archibald and Tyler Pasher.
But even with Fridays big win, Rudland said nothing is guaranteed.
"You know before the match we talked about nothing is deserved, its all earned," Rudland said. "Just because things have gone well doesn't mean its going to magically happen again. So you know we have to continue to put in the work and good things hopefully will keep happening."
Good things did continue to happen this weekend for the Lansing United as they ended Sunday's match against the Detroit City FC with a 2-2 draw.
The draw was enough for Lansing to win The Great Lakes West Conference for the 2014 season and represent the conference in the National Premier Soccer League playoffs.
