MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Members from the Ingham County Medical Care Facility recently came together to celebrate the opening of their brand new wellness trail via a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Two years and $55,000 later, representatives from the ICMCF Foundation Office feel proud to call a job well done.
Administrator Mark Stevens said, "Being a medical care facility it expands beyond the residents. It applies to all of the community...again being part of the community, we would like to welcome community members to come and join."
The one half mile long trail encompasses the entire ICMCF grounds in a big circle. Dotting the trail are six areas to rest that contain two benches and some flowers.
The wellness trail didn't crop up overnight. Back in 2012, members of the foundation board sat in a meeting together to brainstorm an idea to make residents and patients get energetic. One of the ideas would have ended up costing donors more than $1,000,000. With that being unreasonable, Mark Stevens and staff honed in on the idea of the wellness trail.
To walk around the wellness trail you can go to the Ingham County Medical Facility at 3860 Dobie Road.
