MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township's Historical Village is the venue for a free summer concert series called Music in the Park.
Beginning on June 18th, Music in the Park takes place over the course of six weeks, concluding on July 30th. The concerts are free for all ages and feature musical acts from around the community and outer areas. The summer series has been a staple in the community for over 20 years and allows local talent to find a wider audience.
Wanda Degen, a musician in the band The Catbird Seat who performed at the June 25th concert, describes it as "a pleasure to have an event where people, families, and all ages can come for free in such a relaxed setting."
The concerts begin every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm and are scheduled to conclude at 8:30 pm. Two musical acts will play a set, each going for about 45 minutes.
Concert goers are encouraged to bring their own seating such as blankets and lawn chairs. Popcorn, lemonade, and ice cream will be available on site for a minimal fee.
The next concert will occur on July 9th and feature the talents of the mandolin and guitar duet "Pooh and Jim" as well as a folk band known as "The Grand River Band".
