MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - There are some construction projects planned for this summer as well as the completion of major projects that have been ongoing for a couple months in Meridian Township.
The completion of the Van Atta Road bridge is expected to be finished by the end of June. Until then, access to the Harris Nature Center can still only be entered from the South.
The Township’ contractor has begun working on general sidewalk and pathway repairs including repairs to sidewalks damaged by water and sewer construction. This project is funded by the water fund, the pathway millage fund, the road fund, and a portion assessed to property owners.
Bennett Road is scheduled to be improved and resurfaced from Okemos Road to Hagadorn Road in 2014.
The watermain on Shaw Street is being replaced from Haslett Road to Lake Drive. Construction has started and is scheduled to be complete by the end of June.
Okemos Road, North of Gaylord C. Smith Court will also be closed for railroad track repair and the addition of a sidewalk/pathway starting at 8 a.m. on June 2nd and ending at 8 p.m. on June 6th. The Fire Department released a statement saying they will continue to respond to emergencies from the temporary fire station location in the Meridian Service Center during this construction.
