MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - 24-year-old Melissa Mitin is being charged with Homicide Open Murder for the death of her baby. The felony preliminary exam will take place on May 22nd at the 55th District Court in Mason, MI.

Meridian Township Police have been investigating this case since December 2013 when the death took place.

Lieutenant Greg Frenger said, "we still needed some information back on the autopsy. The question was what was the cause of death. We needed some labs back before being able to charge Mitin."

On May 12th, Mitin was arrested and was arraigned at the 55th
District Court and released after posting a $5,000 10% cash bond.
