OKEMOS - Children of Haslett were able to step outside and learn about nature first hand as more than one-hundred students from Murphy Elementary came to the Davis/Foster Land Preserve.
While at the preserve, students were given the chance to plant saplings of Michigan's state tree, the white pine, in an effort to restore the site to it's previous tree populated state.
Some of the other activities included birdwatching, nature hiking, and measuring the diameters of fully grown trees.
