MICHIGAN - On Saturday April 26th, the Michigan State Police (MSP) teamed up with the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
From 10am to 2pm, over 29 MSP posts across the state served as drop-off points for citizens to dispose unwanted and unused prescription drugs. Only pills were accepted with syrups and forms of medication kindly rejected. At the end of the day, the DEA would take the collected drugs from each post and incinerate them. The service was free and anonymous with no questions asked.
Sergeant Kevin Beasley of the MSP Lansing Post emphasized the importance of proper drug disposal for issues such as clutter cabinets, child and personal safety, and water supply contamination. Beasley also stated that the MSP Lansing Post possess a drop-off container for prescription drugs and is available everyday for those who have missed the event.
