EAST LANSING - Michigan State Sophomore Gary Harris officially announced his intentions to enter the NBA draft last monday.
Harris released a statement monday night and briefly spoke to the media tuesday afternoon regarding his decision.
With the senior starters Keith Appling and Adreian Payne graduating, Harris' departure is a big blow for the spartans.
Harris was the leading scorer for MSU last season, averaging over sixteen points per game.
Harris explained that his decision was by no means easy, but something he couldn't pass up.
"It's more of myself. I feel I've grown a lot as a person, I've definitely matured on and off the court a lot more. This year definitely benefited me and once you pass up on your dream one time, you never know if you're gonna get that chance again," said Harris.
On a brighter note for the Spartans, Forward Branden Dawson announced last week that he will be returning for his senior season.
Dawson led the team in rebounding and field goal percentage last season.
