EAST LANSING - "She loved all styles of people," the voice of Heather Holsworth, Lacey’s mother, told the assembled crowd in a recorded message. "Her heart was open to each and every person she ever met. She loved them for the person that they represented themselves to be and also, for the person she saw underneath."

Friends, family and even strangers came together to remember Lacey Holsworth, or as the world knows her, Princess Lacey, in the place that she loved the most, the Breslin Center.

"This isn't the the Jack Breslin Students' Event Center," Heather Holsworth said. "This is Princess Lacey's palace."

Unfortunately, this princess lost her battle to cancer on April 8. But through it all, she didn't need a knight in shining armor. All she needed was her superman and big brother, Adreian Payne.

"I don't think it's a secret to anyone here that Lacey absolutely loved basketball," said Jeff Perryman, a federal agent who along with his dog Ike befriended Lacey. "She was taken in by this team, in by Coach Izzo, as a member of the Spartan basketball family.

Her basketball family paid tribute to Lacey with a silent dunk. But Lacey's story touched more than just the Michigan State basketball team and it showed by the thousands of people who attended her memorial.

Lacey's parents said instead of sending flowers, donate to a charity of your choice in Lacey's name and help her memory live on.
